Project Overview
Business Objective Meridian Line faced a critical issue: as their inventory expanded to thousands of SKUs, their legacy e-commerce platform's search function degraded, taking up to 5 seconds to return results. They needed an enterprise-grade migration to a fast, modern stack with an elite, typo-tolerant search experience.
Technical Architecture & SEO Impact The frontend was entirely rewritten in Next.js to leverage Incremental Static Regeneration (ISR). This meant that product pages were served instantly as static HTML, but automatically rebuilt in the background if pricing or inventory changed. For the search bottleneck, we ripped out the old SQL queries and implemented Meilisearch, a rust-based search engine, enabling sub-50ms typo-tolerant search across 50,000+ items.
Results Search-driven conversion rates increased by 210%. The switch to ISR meant that Google bots were served lightning-fast static HTML, leading to a massive increase in crawl budget utilization and hundreds of product pages indexed on page 1 of search results.
