Project Overview
Business Objective Aurelis Cosmetics was hitting performance limits on standard Shopify themes. The lack of customizability and slow loading speeds were negatively affecting their premium brand positioning and SEO parity with larger competitors. They needed a lightning-fast custom frontend that still utilized Shopify for backend fulfillment.
Technical Architecture & SEO Impact We engineered a custom headless storefront leveraging the Next.js 15 App Router. We utilized the Shopify Storefront GraphQL API for inventory and checkout, while offloading rich editorial content to Sanity CMS. To ensure perfect accessibility (A11y) and keyboard navigation without sacrificing the bespoke aesthetic, we built the design system on top of headless Radix UI primitives.
Results Loading speeds improved by 400%. The separation of commerce and content allowed us to aggressively construct 'Siloed' URL architectures, which allowed Aurelis to dominate long-tail keyword searches for niche organic skincare products.
